Hi Denzel,
I’m learning css etc so not comfortable. I do not understand how to move the video embed so it sits in the middle of the sidebar section. Would appreciate your help as to were I need to adjust to get this right as I love the plug in, just cant use it as it is.
Many thanks
Hi
The widget is control by your theme. If your widget items in your theme sidebar are all center aligned. Then the video will be centered align.
If you want only to align the videos to the left and not other widget items. You will have to add a div tag before the object tag of the video. And style the div tag to float left. You will need to modify the plugin. I do not do free modifications.
Thanks.
We are migrating from the current site to a wordpress platform. We like your plug-in. I would like to use it on a number of pages showing a variety of videos on different pages. Is that possible? Different pages different videos.
Thanks
Hi,
You must have different sidebars for different pages in order to have different contents on each page.
It’s a sidebar issue not widget issue.
The answers is no, unless you have different sidebars.
Thanks.
I am going to try and link to a flv video on my server. with the http: location.
Is there a way to also have a .jpg image show in association ( same size ) as the video player to replace the black screen prior the the video being played.
Thanks..
Hi,
This plugin does not play your self hosted video.
I can code you a plugin that plays your self hosted video and accepts a jpeg image as the default screen instead of a black screen.
You can contact me via email for further details.
Thanks.
I would like to know if you could add http://www.ubroadcast.com to you list or how I could use video from there site.
Thanks
David
Hi,
Will take a look when I am free.
Thanks.
Denzel, your plugin was *just* what I was looking for, and easy to install, set up and post. However, when I visit my page, all the rest of my widgets disappeared. Any ideas? I kind of like having my other widgets, too.
Hi,
How would I know how your theme works?
My widget does not cause other widgets to disappear.
You should post this question to your theme designer, or you can engage me to modify your theme.
Was very excited about the opportunity to start embedding videos, and have looked @ all the comments, but none as basic as my question: why won’t the TinyMCE icon show up for adding video to posts?
The plugin is there; the widget is available; but not a way to add to posts. I read about “cache” issues, but don’t know how to check if that’s a theme problem (vigilance).
Hi,
If I am not wrong, you enabled gears for your site admin in your firefox browser right?
Disable, and delete the gears for your site in your browser, it can be found under Tools->Gears Settings on your firefox menu bar.
Reload the add new post admin page of WordPress Admin, after you had deleted and disable gears in your browser.
The ‘yellow’ insert video codes quicktag should appear in the top right corner of your TinyMCE editor.
You can then go to Tools in your WordPress Admin to enable Gears again.
It is GEARS that is causing the caching problem.
Hope it solves your problem!
I’m a newbie at this blogging world and I cannot figure out how to get the info to fill in on the widget.
ID: Is that just the title of the video on You Tube, when I enter the name it disappears.
Caption: If you didn’t have one on You Tube, can you leave it just blank?
Height & Width: Where do I get these? Can’t find anything on You Tube, do I use inches, pixels or what?
I’m sure this plug in is just what I’m looking for. I’m dying to use it. I see others have success. I have large videos now that I have added through embed code, copied from You Tube and pasted into my site, but I want to make them smaller and leave room for my posts.
Confused and need your help
GK
Hi GK,
ID – Navigate to the youtube page of the video you want to embed. The ID is part of the string of characters of the url, (url of the video) found in the Browser URL bar.
The whole string of characters at the end of the URL of the Video, excluding http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=
For example the following url of the video found on youtube.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UR_y8eoKpRg&eurl
UR_y8eoKpRg&eurl will be the video ID. Just copy that and paste on the video id input option.
Caption – The caption has got nothing to do with the video. It is for you to add a caption, just leave it blank if you are not using.
Height and Width – This is for you to key in any value for width or height, so that you can control the video embed size.
In numbers only, not pixels or anything else. For a start, key in 200 as width and 150 as height just to try out.
Save and view the video size on your blog sidebar. Just change it accordingly to your preference, until you get the correct size you want.
Autoplay – Select yes, if you want the video to start playing automatically after your blog finished loading. This option works only for certain video networks.
Hope the above information is of use to you. Actually all instructions are on the plugin page
. You just have to scroll down the page to read it.
Thanks for using my plugin.

Denzel
Awesome Denzel!
So glad I found your widget! Thanks for the response. Your tops.
I have a page on my site for new bloggers, where I’m reviewing plugins as I discover them. I will be giving you a glowing reply.
Thanks again!
GK
Hi,
You are welcome GK!
Hi Denzel,
Great tool, but I just want to know if can I make the video-in-post a random one, like what I can do for widgets?
Hi Chan,
At the moment you cannot make the video embed in post content a random one. I did not code that, because I thought that no want would need this feature.
I will update the plugin to include this feature, if there are more users requesting for it.
Thank you for using my widget.
Regards,
Denzel
yo – another request for random video players on a page
:p
great plugin – thanks!
peace
Hi,
Will do that once I have the time. I am coding a new free plugin and will be releasing soon.
Now I need more time to do paid jobs as I am having cash flow problems.
Thanks for using my plugin.
Hi Denzel,
On question I forgot to ask.
I placed a video in my VIDEO SIDEBAR WIDGET. All is well and it works fine.
Question: The THUMBNAIL IMAGE or ICON for the video as it rests in you widget is not flush with the left margin of your widget or the top margin. How can I align the THUMBNAIL IMAGE or ICON so that it rests flush with your widget from your widget’s left margin.
Not: I don’t care about the right margin, because I have made the size of the video to be wider than my sidebar, so it goes over the sidebar, but that is okay.
THanks,
Nat
Hi Nat,
All sidebar styles are controlled by your theme style.css. Take a look at my sidebar here http://denzeldesigns.com/wordpress-plugins/video-sidebar-widgets/ All Videos, WordPress Text Widget and their respective titles are lined up, left align.
A theme sidebar should be coded with a padding (inner spacing) that enables widgets that are not using html list to align with the widget title. The sidebar widget titles are normally in an unordered list (with bullets removed) with a spacing (margin) from the sidebar border. These sidebar padding should be same as the widget title left margin, so that all widgets will fall correctly in alignment with its title.
Anyway, its a theme sidebar styling issue. Not a widget issue.

Denzel
The plugin is not a valid XHTML code.
It causes as much as 33 errors in my site
Too bad…
Hi Niv,
This plugin combines codes to reproduce flash embed code given by video networks such as youtube.
Check out the youtube video embed code on youtube, is it valid XHTML? It is not right?
Check out vimeo video embed code on vimeo. Again, it is not valid XHTML right?
So if you want valid XHTML Flash Video Embed Code, you need to try making the youtube code valid and see if it works for all browsers.
You may want to try writing your own plugin that is able to embed all flash video codes from 15 video networks and make them all valid XHTML.
By the way the <embed> HTML tag, found in most video embed code provided by the video network is not a valid XHTML tag, but it is needed for old browsers to work.
Lastly, I don’t know why it cause 33 errors unless you embed more than one video?
Is there a way to integrate this with some sort of analytics tools so I can track clicks on the videos in the sidebar?
Mike
Hi Mike,
I suppose you can use google analytics to track a click on the video, using its Event Tracking API.
However, I have not used google analytics before and i am not familiar with the APIs, so I will not go into the details.
I noticed that you use the “Ultimate Google Analytics plugin” for your site.
You can always hire the developer to add a javascript onclick event to the video codes echo out by my plugin, for google to track each video click (Play).
I am sure the developer is able to modify my code.

Denzel
I love this widget, its exactly what I’m looking for. I like to showcase on my blog a video that I’ve selected from the web. But I would like to build an archive of previously selected videos. Right now, I’m doing blog, posts, but it would be great to use this plugin that can store that info.
Thanks for a great tool.
Mike
Hi Mike,
Are you talking about something like a play list? I will consider adding a play list feature to the widget when I have the time.
Right now I need to get some paid job. If you are willing to hire me to modify the plugin to your specifications, you may send me an email with your detail specifications and I will send you a quote.
Regards,
Denzel
I love your widget and have put it on my website, but I cannot figure out how to make it play “random” videos. Do you enter more than one video code and separate them with a comma?
Hi Dave,
The plugin comes with two widgets. Use the Random Video Widget. Fill up all options, including 5 preset videos. Each time you reload your webpage, 1 of the 5 preset videos will appear.
Do not use with any cache plugin, unless you know how to prevent the cache plugin from caching your sidebar. And Please read the instructions here, on how to use Random Video Widget, and important notes for Random Video Widget.

Denzel
