I had difficulty finding a simple, yet attractive lightbox plugin for WP 2.9.1 until I tried yours. Worked first time, with no fuss! Thank you and great work!

How to view text ALT from IMG?
    Help me….

    • Denzel says:

      Hi,

It requires modification to the javascript. I do not do free modifications. Drop me an email for quotation if you are willing to pay me for modifications.

      Thanks.

  3. Hi,

Just installed the plugin in my website. Is there any way to skin the viewer? The present skin doesn’t quite go with my wordpress theme.

    • Denzel says:

      Hi,

All the images used for the buttons and console are in the images folder, you can create a new set to replace the default, just remember to create with the same dimensions and overwrite default images using back the same name, if not you will have to change the names in the javascript.

      • Is it possible to add a custom skin feature? The community could contribute to the skins. You just need to make a default XML template for the skin giving the locations of the stop, play etc buttons, and the dimensions of the photos

        • Denzel says:

          Hi,

The plugin is mostly javascript and I do not know how to code javascript to retrieve xml data.

          Regards,

          Denzel

  4. eric says:

Hello how can I turn off the auto close function?

    • Denzel says:

      Hi,

      You cannot, unless you modify the source script. Open up photolightbox.src.js and go to line 567 and comment out hidePLBox();
Save the script and overwrite photolightbox.js

      Regards,

      Denzel.

      • MIKE says:

Didn’t work. Neither did changing the amount of seconds it stays up.

        • Denzel says:

          Hi,

This does not work anymore for version 1.2

If you want control over the lightbox, you can buy the premium version.
I will not offer any free modifications anymore.
Only Bugs reporting and fixing here.

          Thanks.

    • eric says:

Great thanks, also what needs to be edited to extend the timeout?

      • Denzel says:

        Hi,

Find this at the beginning of the script
        var nextImageTiming = 5000;

Change 5000 to any timing you want. 5000 is 5 sec

After that same thing, copy and paste over photolightbox.js

        Regards,

        Denzel

    Hey,

is there any possibility to turn the slideshow “off” as a standart? I want my visitors to clcik on play to start a slideshow, normaly they should watch the picture as long as they want to without clicking the “pause” button.

    Thx. for reply

    • Denzel says:

      Hi,

Email you a premium version of photo lightbox, which is not yet fully coded but is already functional. Delete the photo lightbox plugin in your wordpress before installing this premium version. After installing, go to photo lightbox under settings in your wordpress admin and select auto slide transition to ‘no’ and select update options. The slideshow will be off. There are other settings too, just try it out.

You can always donate if you find it useful.

      Regards,

      Denzel

I was also looking to provide a non-closing window with my photos, and having done the initial install, I have stopped at that point. Have you got closer to releasing the premium version?

If you haven’t is there a way I can get it, I’ll make a paypal donation as an encouragement :)

        Mike

        • Denzel says:

          Hi Mike,
Getting there soon. Give me probably five more days to complete the coding of the admin options.
I will email you the development copy for you to try out first. Will definitely email you the Completed Version, you can be my beta tester before public release. Will not charge you for the Completed Premium Version.

          Regards,

          Denzel

  6. Ben says:

    Great plugin indeed!

I was just wondering if there is a way to just display the photo itself without the top bar that has the power and pause buttons and title of the image.

    Thank you.

    • Denzel says:

      Hi Ben,

Sorry, there is no way to disable it. Unless you modify the javascript source code of photolightbox.src.js by coding all interface of the bar’s visibility to none and copy over photolightbox.js. But then there will be no close button for user to close it. User will have to click on overlay to close it, but then they may not know it.

      Regards,

      Denzel

      • Ben says:

ok, sounds good. I was wondering then how to make the long title which is scrolling reappear faster?

        • Denzel says:

          Hi Ben,

You can only adjust the scroll speed, fastest is one. There is no way it can continue directly after the end of the sentence. Cause the whole sentence is a block and the marquee scrolls the whole block left until the end disappears behind the container, the script then repositions the whole block back to original position for scrolling.

To adjust the speed, use your editor to open up photolightbox.src.js and find the following and change accordingly.

          //Marquee
var delayscroll=1000; //Specify initial delay before marquee starts to scroll on page (1000 = 1 seconds)
var marqueespeed=2;//Specify marquee scroll speed (lowest speed is 1)

          Regards,

          Denzel

  7. Simon says:

Hi, thanks for the great plugin. I would like to get it working on the photo albums page I have. I’m using a plugin called WP Photo Albums from http://me.mywebsight.ws/

Is there a way to do this?

    • Denzel says:

      Hi Simon,

I have modified a copy of wp photo albums. Changed the thumbnail link to image url instead of showing single page image. Photo lightbox has to had a link to image in server in order to work.
I have tested on my test blog and it works, however i cannot figure out how to get the titles.

Emailed a copy to you. Please come back to post a comment on whether it works for you.

      Regards,

      Denzel

      • Simon says:

Brilliant, thank-you so much. Looks great.

You’re right there are no titles which is a shame but I’m not going to cry about it.

Thanks again. Will recommend you as much as I can

        • Denzel says:

          Hi Simon,

I am glad to hear that.

Thanks for the compliments. By the way that photo album plugin is great. Considering to write one when i am free.

          Thank for recommending my works!

          Regards,

          Denzel

    • Denzel says:

      Hi,

After viewing the source of the mentioned site, I think it is not a plugin. It is probably generated by a function built in the theme’s function.php

      Regards,

      Denzel

  9. Brad brown says:

Thx a lot brother its working fine now..

  10. Brad brown says:

heyi its really a amazing plugin..
    i m using wp 2.8 i m new to this thing.
actually i want to add a category “photos” and want to use this plugin there please guide how can i do this step by step..
    thx in advance

    • Denzel says:

      Hi Brad,

I have visited your site, you have already created some categories. You just have to create another category and name it photos. Write a post and categorize under photos. Within this post, if you want to create a gallery of image thumbnails, do not use the built in WordPress Gallery shortcode, instead upload and insert each thumbnail manually, link the thumbnails to the source image. After inserting the thumbnails, click on it and click the edit icon. Read the instructions under setting up, on how to insert rel attribute. Enter an identical name to all rel attribute within the same post. Example, SET1 to all rel attribute. Save as draft and preview. Click on the thumbnails and it will show up in Photo Lightbox as a Gallery, which means it will continue as a slide show until the last image. You can visit Mikkelsen’s Blog to see it in action.

Photo Lightbox script will be inserted in all your webpage after activation, there is no need to specify which page or post to load it. Actually, you had already inserted an image with a link to source image in most of your blog posts. There should not be any problem for you.

Finally, if you want control on the slide transition speed or disable auto hide features, you can wait for the Premium version of Photo Lightbox which I intend to launch shortly. It will be retailed at a very low price of around $5.

      Regards,

      Denzel

    Hi!

This definetly one of the best (and nicest) lightbox clones in a long time! One problem however, is that it is only one line of text for each image. When you have long descriptions its a problem. Is there a place where i could fix this myself? Or, even bether, do you have a versjon that handles longer captions per image? Thanks!

    • Denzel says:

      Hi Mikkesen,

      Thanks for the complements!

I have visited your blog and noticed that the flash video on your side bar is showing through the overlay. I have added some code to hide the flash video during image viewing, and show the video again after photo lightbox closes. If the video still show above the image, try to add wmode=”transparent” to the flash object param and embed. You can read more on http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/142/tn_14201.html

Lastly, I had added a marquee to the image title. If the image title is longer than the container it will automatically scroll to the left. However user have to press pause to read the whole title, as the gallery timer will call for next slide in 5 secs. You can delay the gallery timer by changing var nextImageTiming = 5000; in photolightbox.js to a longer time. (5000 means 5secs)

I had already email you the modified copy, please ftp the modified photolightbox.js to your server and replace the server copy. You can start testing the marquee by keying long titles!

Thanks again for using my plugin, Hope you like the modifications!

      Regards,

      Denzel

    • Denzel says:

      Hi,

Just added css line-height to all text in Photo Lightbox, so as to overwrite line-height set by your theme. This will make the image titles of Photo Lightbox readable on your site.

Just email you the latest modifications.

      Regards,

  12. Frank says:

When one moves through the images using the next/previous buttons and comes to the last image, the thread stops. Is there a method to continue from the last image to the first image and keep moving?

    • Denzel says:

      Hi Frank,

I have done the necessary modifications, and email a copy of the modified photolightbox.js to you. You can use ftp to replace the copy of photolightbox.js on your server.

Thank u for using my plugin!

      Regards,

      Denzel
